LUNG CANCER EVALUATION CENTER

Sunday is a board-certified advanced practice nurse who works in collaboration with the physicians in the Lung Cancer Evaluation Center. She will see you at your consult, perform a history and physical, review your case with the appropriate doctors, and assist in developing the plan of your care. If surgery is part of the plan, Sunday will assist you in setting up a date for your surgery and pre-operative evaluation (pre-admission testing), and will manage your follow-up care. She also works with patients who are part of our nodule follow-up or post-resection protocol. Having lived most of her life on Long Island, she is familiar with most of the practices on Long Island and is an excellent resource.

Giselle is the clinical research coordinator of the Lung Cancer Evaluation Center. Using the latest medical advances and insuring quality care is an important component of the care we deliver at Stony Brook Medical Center. For those patients offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and chose to participate, Leslie will assist them throughout their participation. In addition, Leslie is responsible for our Lung Cancer Registry which we hope will help identify risk factors associated with lung cancer, and she is involved in the data collection for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Database, which benchmarks quality. Leslie has been a nurse with Stony Brook Hospital Medical Center for over twenty years and is very important member of the team.

April is a board-certified advanced practice nurse in Stony Brook's Pulmonary Division, who has a special interest in lung cancer. She also sees patients at the time of their consult, performs a history and physical, reviews the case with the appropriate doctors, and assists in the development of the care plan. She also works with patients who are part of our nodule follow-up or post-resection protocol. April coordinates our Lung Cancer Support Group which meets monthly.
