Research
Dr. Verga is the first physician on Long Island to perform the LARIAT left atrial appendage suture exclusion procedure for patients with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). LARIAT is an innovative, minimally invasive method designed to easily remove the part of the heart in which 90% of blood clots form, with the goal of reducing stroke risk for patients with atrial fibrillation.
In addition, Dr. Verga is among the first physicians in Suffolk County to offer cryothermal (cryo) ablation for atrial fibrillation. Cryo ablation is a far less painful method of performing A-Fib ablation. Procedure time is markedly reduced when compared with traditional radiofrequency ablation, offering patients shorter post procedure recovery times.
