General Pediatric Medicine

General Pediatric Medicine

The Division of General Pediatrics provides inpatient and outpatient care at Stony Brook University Medical Center. There are six primary care offices in the areas surrounding Stony Brook University Medical Center. They are located in East Setauket, Patchogue, Islip, Riverhead, East Moriches, and Southold. These offices provide routine well and sick care for children from birth to age 21. In addition to caring for children, their Patchogue and Islip offices also provide adult care by our med-peds physicians. Evening and weekend hours are available at all our sites.

Within the hospital, they provide hospital services for sick children on their general pediatric floor and in their Pediatric Urgent Care Center, which is a walk-in facility available for sick children between the hours of 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. These facilities are staffed by pediatricians, pediatric nurses, and Child Life specialists who are trained in caring for acutely ill children. Their Newborn Nursery provides well baby care to approximately 3500 babies per year.
