How is stereotactic radiation therapy different

The type of radiation is the same for both treatments. However, stereotactic radiation therapy is able to exclude the surrounding normal tissues or organs better than conventional radiotherapy. The treatment is given daily similar to conventional radiation treatment.

For stereotactic radiation therapy, a special mask will be made to be worn during the preparation and the treatments to keep your head in a precise position. The mask is easily removed as needed.
