Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine provides comprehensive services in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders. Our physicians, all of whom are board-certified in Critical Care Medicine, supervise the care of patients in Medical Intensive Care Unit and Respiratory Care Unit at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Our Outpatient services include:

General Pulmonary Clinic -diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care are provided for all major pulmonary diseases, including:

• COPD
• Asthma
• Emphysema
• Occupational Lung Diseases
• Pulmonary Fibrosis

Lung Cancer Evaluation Center - a multispecialty program that:

• provides multidisciplinary management plans for diagnosing, staging and treating intrathoracic malignancies
• second opinions regarding diagnosis and treatment
• state of the art diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy

Pulmonary Hypertension Center - a specialty clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension.

Sleep Disorders Center - Our AASM-accredited Sleep Lab offers complete consultative services by Board-certified Sleep specialists to diagnose and treat the following sleep-related disorders:

• Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome
• Narcolepsy
• Periodic Leg Movements
• Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia

The following tests are performed:

• Nocturnal Polysomnography
• Multiple Sleep Latency Testing
• CPAP/BiPAP titration
