  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Certification in Health Care Compliance or Graduate Certificate in Health Care Compliance required
  • Minimum of 8 years leadership and/or supervisory experience required
  • At least 5 years of experience in health care compliance required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, non-physicians and practitioners, and staff and leaders of clinical, financial, and other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding full elements of an effective compliance program. Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Academic medical center compliance experience preferred; physician practice plan compliance or physician office compliance experience preferred.
  • Clinical background preferred (e.g., MD, DO, RN, PA, NP, RT).
  • Coding certification preferred through American Health Information Management Association or the American Academy Professional Coders as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P), Certified Professional Medical Coder (CPC), or Professional Medical Coder Outpatient Hospital (COC).


The Director of Compliance for the Clinical Practice Management Plan (CPMP) will assist the Chief Compliance Officer for Stony Brook Medicine in carrying out the Compliance Program for the Clinical Practice Management Plan and its University Faculty Practice Corporations (UFPC). The Director will participate in the oversight and assessment of the compliance program as well as will provide guidance and education to physicians and non-physician practitioners, clinical department leaders, and others regarding compliance with federal and state rules, regulations, and laws on physician billing and business practices, and organizational policies and procedures as prescribed in the Compliance Code of Conduct. The Director will work with and mentor CPMPs compliance team members and collaborate with other Stony Brook Medicine and University compliance leaders. The Director will design and implement an annual compliance work plan for CPMP. The Director will partner with management to provide continual risk assessment and in the development of comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance training, and investigations.
