Work Location – East Setauket, NY

Schedule – Full Time

Days & Hours – M-F 10am-6:30pm (hours may vary)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified in phlebotomy.
  • CPR/AED Certified.


Neurology Associates of Stony Brook, UFPC is seeking a Front Desk Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant who will assist the department with coordination of the daily operations of the front desk and other duties to ensure efficient work flow and patient care. They will follow check-in/check-out processes including verifying patient demographics, insurance information, obtaining patient signatures on applicable patient forms, and having the patient complete any paperwork associated with the visit utilizing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They will also collect any payment required from the patient and process accordingly. Will also schedule any services or procedures needed by verifying the insurance and obtaining/retrieving appropriate referrals/authorizations that may be required. Ensures office supplies are adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs and placing orders or advising office manager of items needed. Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients’ arrival, delays or backlogs, and communicates with other staff and/or patients as necessary. 

Other Duties

Places patient in the examination room and documents using the EMR any medications, vitals, and main reason for visit. Performs screening and measuring procedures which include, but are not limited to, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, EKG. Also ensures that all previous test results/medical records from outside labs, radiology, physicians’ offices, etc. have been obtained prior to the visit. Prepares room prior to the patient visit and for specific procedures as needed. Ensures the cleanliness and adequate supply of medical inventory in each exam room. Follows HIPAA and OSHA guidelines at all times.
