Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in a medical office setting.
  • Prior pre-authorization process experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Excellent typing skills and friendly telephone etiquette.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications
  • EMR experience.
  • Experience with patient scheduling.
  • Experience with managed care companies.
  • Spanish speaking.


Stony Brook Surgical Associates, UFPC seeks an Authorization Specialist who works as a liaison between the physician and the patient. They interface with physicians, patients, and administrative personnel as well as answer phone calls and route messages accordingly. Obtains prior authorizations for medications and/or procedures. They maintain clinical calendars, maintain inventory of clinical supplies for the office, and schedule meetings for clinical staff.
