Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Must have at least 2 years of prior experience working as a Medical Assistant in a busy physician practice.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must have exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Must have ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Must have computer and/or EMR experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
  • CPR/AED Certified.
  • Prior experience working as a Medical Assistant in an Ob/Gyn Physician office.
  • Spanish Speaking


The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology seeks a Medical Assistant to provide support to the physicians in the department at their practice location in East Setauket, NY (Applicant may also be assigned to work in Commack and Bohemia as needed). They will assist the physician with rooming patients in the examination rooms, document using the electronic medical record, medications, vitals and main reason for the visit as well as perform screening and measuring procedures, which include but are not limited to height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.  They will assist with setting up and preparing the patient for exams and special procedures as ordered by the physician and explain all procedures to be performed.  They will perform routine laboratory tests including collection of blood or other specimens as ordered by physician.  They will also clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies per OSHA guidelines. They will ensure an adequate level of medical supplies and maintain a clean environment. When needed, will perform administrative duties.
