Proceeds go to Patient Services and Programs

An event where Italian cuisine and dancing ruled the evening at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook benefitted the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Comprehensive Care Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Approximately 170 attended the March 3 event that raised $50,000 for patient services and programs.

Hosted by SBUMC Development Council Member Filomena Lombardi, the inaugural event honored Dr. Patricia K. Coyle, Director of the MS Comprehensive Care Center, and Dr. David Perlmutter of Perlmutter Health Center, for their outstanding contributions to the study and treatment of MS. The event was sponsored by In the Mood DJ Productions, Paesana Foods, and SBUMC.

"The Lombardi family is committed to giving back in the communities in which we do business," says Filomena Lombardi. "We are proud to do our part to raise funds in the hope of finding better treatment options and ultimately a cure for MS, a disease that affects so many people on Long Island."

"The MS Comprehensive Care Center provides multidisciplinary care for patients at every level and support programs for patients and their families," says Dr. Coyle. "The support from this wonderful event helps us to continue to build what we are able to do for patients."

Aside from tasting fabulous food and "cutting the rug," attendees also experienced a live art show. Presented by Lamantia Gallery, the show featured the work of artists recognized worldwide such as Thomas Arvid, Antonio Iannacelli, Gerhard Nesvadba, Fabian Perez and Jim Warren. An auction was also held.

Additional support to the MS Comprehensive Care Center can made though Lombardi's with checks payable to the Stony Brook Foundation, and mailed to: Filomena Lombardi c/o Villa Lombardi’s, 877 Main Street, Holbrook, N.Y. 11741.
