Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Current RDS / RDCS certification.
  • Work experience as an Echo Tech required.
  • Familiar with procedures necessary to perform EKGs on infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Knowledge of equipment use and maintenance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills.
  • EMR experience.


SUMMARY: The echo technician, also known as an echocardiography technician, uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the human heart. Technicians use sound wave projectors to project sound into human tissue with sound then echoes back to a receiver that returns data to a computer which is used to create an image of the tissue.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Prepare patients, explain procedure to patients, answer questions and prepare the diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures.
  • Obtain graph of patient’s heart action by positioning electrodes and manipulating proper dials.
  • Files reports according to procedures.
  • Prepare EKGs for interpretation by obtaining previous records of patient for comparison (if appropriate).
  • Print echo schedules.
  • May be asked to assist in placing the EKG’s in patient’s chart.
  • Cleans and maintains electrodes and machines on a daily basis.
  • All other duties as assigned.
