Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health related discipline. In lieu of a degree, four years of full-time progressive experience in the field of Medicine.
  • Two years of full-time experience working in a health care setting
  • Must have independent judgment and analytical skills.
  • Must have basic understanding of respiratory physiology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Technician or Certified Pulmonary Function Technician
  • Additional three years of related experience to include experience performing the following diagnostic tests on patients; spirometry measurements, vital lung capacity, functional residual capacity, determination of maldistribution of inspired air, arterial blood gas assays.

Description

Brief Summary of Duties: The Pulmonary Function Technician will work independently in the Department of Internal Medicine outpatient locations and will be responsible for the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Perform diagnostic tests on patients including; spirometry measurements, vital lung capacity, functional residual capacity, determination of maldistribution of inspired air, arterial blood gas assays, and other pulmonary function testing as needed.
  • Provide patient education including instructions in the proper use of inhalers and nebulizers.
  • Complete all necessary documentation including billing forms when needed.
  • Perform quality control procedures on test equipment.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
