Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Statistics
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in analytics for healthcare organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to independently exercise good judgment, prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner to audiences with varying levels of understanding
  • Proficiency in analyzing a wide array of data types, including medical and pharmacy claims, clinical process and outcome data, e.g., HEDIS and other performance metrics, and survey data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, SQL, SAAS, and/or other analytical platforms or languages
  • Strong ability to turn data into usable information that provides value analytics for end-user processes


Position Overview

The BI & Quality Analyst supports the Clinical Integration Network clinical effectiveness initiatives, including the TCPI Initiative (Transforming Clinical Practice) by conducting data mining, querying and reporting in areas like population health, value-based outcomes and total cost of care. 


  • Compiles complex qualitative and quantitative clinical and financial data from multiple sources, and integrates results into meaningful reports and presentations to support clinical integration initiatives
  • Assists with tracking and trending of operational, financial, and quality metrics including, but not limited to ACO/GPRO metrics, population and network utilization, and care coordination activities
  • Provides knowledge in business/clinical processes, analytical expertise, technical programming skills, and strong leadership skills in working with key stakeholders, end users and project team members
  • Leads efforts to design and implement performance reports, dashboards & views for network leadership
  • Performs analyses evaluating the impact of various clinical effectiveness interventions on care delivery
  • Identifies actionable opportunities to improve utilization, patient satisfaction, access & clinical outcomes

Other Duties
  • Identifies & analyzes patient characteristics associated with / predictive of outcomes & future behavior
  • Utilizes advanced querying techniques with thorough knowledge and understanding of data warehouse concept and cubes. Work with advanced graphic tools to provide insightful views of performance.
  • Serves as liaison with IT staff and external vendors to ensure IT connectivity, data validation and provider adoption of the network’s performance management infrastructure
  • Improves the quality and accuracy of data by working with users to identify reporting needs, defining report specifications, and developing reports to meet business requirements. 
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in workflow processes in the implementation of these solutions. 
  • Serve as a central point of contact for the Vizient Practice Transformation Network (PTN) staff, mainly working 1:1 with a Vizient Quality Improvement Advisor.
  • Ensures that communication from the Vizient PTN will be disseminated to Stony Brook CPMP leaders and managers as well as all affected staff. 
  • Effectively communicating the goals, tasks and milestones of the Vizient PTN program.
  • Clearly defining the needs of Vizient’s PTN program to CPMP leadership and providing regular status updates on progress, needs, and reports and data that is being sent to Vizient.
